Sexual Assault Resources & Standing Up For Survivors

Hi Neighbor,

Sexual assault is a profound violation, and women and children are too often the ones left carrying the trauma. They deserve more than sympathy. They deserve safety, protection, and a system that acts with urgency.

That is why I have pushed for reform and oversight, including our work to hold Alameda County’s foster care system accountable (Taskforce | California Senate District 10). It is also why I want to highlight key laws now in effect to better protect survivors and hold predators accountable:

SB 464 – Strengthens survivors’ rights, dignity, and access to justice.

SB 14 – Classifies trafficking of a minor as a serious felony and increases penalties for child traffickers.

SB 926 – Expands protections against non-consensual explicit images to include AI-generated content.

SB 981 – Requires platforms to provide reporting tools and remove abusive deepfake content.

SB 1381 – Makes it illegal to possess or distribute AI-generated sexually abusive images of children.

This progress reflects the work of organizations like Ruby’s Place in Hayward, which has long supported survivors and advanced protections. I’m honored to have received their 2025 Trailblazer for Change recognition.
