19 Bills from Senator Wahab Pass the Legislature

Dear Neighbor,

After a busy month, I’m proud to share 19 of my bills passed the Legislature this session.

Five bills have already been signed by the Governor, including SB 982—Organized Retail Theft—which preserves organized retail theft as a crime, giving prosecutors and law enforcement the effective tools they need to combat organized theft.

Senator Wahab and colleagues display public safety bills signed by Governor Gavin Newsom.

My AI Safety Policy Package also cleared the legislature with bipartisan support:

  • SB 926, Safeguarding Against Digitized Misrepresentation, expands revenge porn law and prohibits distribution of artificially created sexually explicit images with the intent to cause serious emotional distress to the person depicted in the image.
  • SB 1381, AI Child Safety Bill, will ensure AI-generated imagery is appropriately covered in child pornography laws.
  • SB 981, Digital Identity Theft Act, combats the growing problem of sexually explicit digital identity theft on social media platforms.

My staff and I are already at work on next year’s legislative package. If you have an idea to improve the quality of life in our district or California, please let me know!

Finally, we have additional district investments to share:

  • $34,879,000 from CalTrans California Transportation Commission for projects in Alameda and Santa Clara Counties
  • $38,479,951 from the Affordable Housing and Sustainable Communities Program for Berryessa TOD

It’s an honor to represent this district, and I look forward to continuing to advocate for the needs of our communities.

Here to Serve,

Aisha Wahab
