Senator Aisha Wahab Continues to Garner Bipartisan Support in the Senate
Sacramento, Calif. — During a Senate floor vote on Wednesday, Senator Aisha Wahab’s SB 404, the Safe Minors Act prohibiting non-sanctioned marriages with a minor, passed with unanimous bipartisan support. This marks Senator Wahab’s seventh consecutive bill to garner such bipartisan support on the Senate floor.
“California is a place where we are much closer than we are apart on many issues,” Senator Wahab remarked. “Together, it is our duty to protect our children.”
In previous floor votes Senator Wahab’s bills relating to cultural observances, police transparency, caste discrimination, CalSAWS data sharing, parental reunification, and refugee services all passed the Senate.
All seven bills are now headed to the Assembly, and must make their way through committees and a floor vote before reaching Governor Newsom’s desk.
