Sacramento, Calif.— California State Senator Aisha Wahab (D-Hayward) formally introduced the much anticipated firearms resolution, now known as Senate Joint Resolution (SJR) 7. The Right to Safety Resolution “reaffirms the commitment of the State of California to tackle gun violence, and calls on the U.S. Congress to ensure life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness for all,” stated Sen. Wahab.

The bill would clarify California civil rights law to explicitly include protection against discrimination based on a person’s perceived position in a caste.

This marks Senator Wahab’s seventh consecutive bill to garner such bipartisan support on the Senate floor.

Sacramento, CA —During a Senate floor vote on Monday afternoon, Senator Aisha Wahab’s SB 400, Peace Office Termination Disclosures, passed with a vote of 33 to 0 with bipartisan support. The bill would allow for law enforcement agencies to announce that a peace officer or custodial officer was terminated for cause. SB 400 also empowers agencies with the choice to disclose the specifics of an officer's termination directly to the public.
