Taskforce

Alameda County Department of Children and Family Services

As a former foster youth, calling for a state audit of the Alameda County Department of Children and Family Services was rooted in State Senator Dr. Aisha Wahab’s own lived experience.

The audit's findings were shocking yet undeniable. Along with a Civil Grand Jury report, the State Auditor makes clear that Alameda County is failing, resulting in death and sexual exploitation of children.

The Task Force, led by Senator Wahab, brings together members of the California Legislature, representatives from the Offices of the Alameda County Board of Supervisors, subject-matter experts, and community stakeholders to ensure that audit findings lead to measurable, timely improvements in child safety, workforce practice, and system performance.

The first taskforce meeting on January 30th was a strong and productive start, acknowledging the goal is not to replace existing oversight, but to strengthen transparency, coordination, and accountability.
