Senator Wahab Protects Small Businesses

Dear Neighbor,

Protecting small businesses is important to me that's why I am prioritizing legislation to protect small business owners.

SB 982, Organized Theft Sunset Removal, adds permanency to the organized retail theft, and gives prosecutors and law enforcement the effective tools they need to combat organized theft. A family owned small business cannot sustain losses from organized retail theft, and these losses are not only a threat to the business but the very livelihood of the family running it.

SB 983, creates the Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Task Force with the goal of expanding alternative fuel infrastructure, including EV and Hydrogen charging stations, in existing gas stations—vital small businesses. If we allow existing gas stations to flounder amongst our transition to clean energy, we are impacting the lives of tens of thousands of people. These small business owners must be part of the conversation on the transition to a cleaner, greener world..

This is also why my office coordinates with state and local organizations to host regular small business workshops. We held one in December with the Fremont Chamber of Commerce, and we have one coming up in May with the Silicon Valley Central Chamber of Commerce.

I hope to see some of you there as we work to ensure small businesses thrive in our district and the Bay Area.

Here to serve you,

Aisha Wahab
