Please Join Senator Wieckowski for the African-American Leadership Awards Ceremony

February 21, 2017

The 10th Senate District is one of the most diverse districts in the state of California, and we have all greatly benefited from the positive impact African Americans have had in our communities.

In order to honor individuals who continue to make a positive impact, I am hosting my 6th Annual African-American Heritage Leadership Awards on Friday, February 24th at San Lorenzo Library at 395 Paseo Grande in San Lorenzo.

The ceremony will be from 3:30 pm to 5pm.

Doors open at 3pm.

We will be honoring prominent African-American leaders from our community. The honorees include:

  • The Afro-American Cultural and Historical Society of the Tri-City Area & Hayward
  • Stan Hebert, Associate Vice-President of Family & Community Relations at Cal State East Bay
  • Margaret Jackson, founder of "Business On the Edge"

Other participants include San Francisco Supervisor Malia Cohen and Alameda County Supervisor Wilma Chan.

The event is free and open to the public, but space is limited. Please RSVP to my office at (510) 794-3900 or e-mail

I hope you can join me for this wonderful event on February 24th. It is an honor and a privilege to serve you in the California State Senate.

Bob Wieckowski
