Senate Environmental Quality Committee to examine state's efforts to combat air pollution

ARB Chair Mary Nichols will testify on Clean Air Act

Sacramento – The Senate Environmental Quality Committee, chaired by Senator Bob Wieckowski (D-Fremont) will hold an oversight hearing tomorrow morning on the California Air Resources Board’s (ARB) programs that address its responsibilities under the federal and state clean air acts.   ARB Chair Mary Nichols will testify before the committee on the board’s actions to control air pollution.

“Protecting public health and the environment are the goals of the federal and state clean air acts and California has a number of innovative programs to cut emissions and improve air quality,” Wieckowski said.  “The hearing will focus on programs and regulations that reduce pollution through alternative diesel fuel, reformulated gasoline, clean vehicle rebates, fleet modernization, grants to local air districts and other steps implemented by ARB to provide clean air for all Californians.”
