Sacramento – State Senator Bob Wieckowski (D-Fremont) will offer brief remarks at a special ceremony this Saturday, June 6, at 1:30p.m., at Hayward Veterans Memorial Building – 22737 Main Street in Hayward.

“We salute the brave men and women who have shown their ultimate commitment to their country by enlisting in the United States Armed Forces. As a Senator, I have the privilege to serve the public.  It is critical that we recognize the dedication of our troops and veterans and collectively thank them for standing up and serving our nation,” Wieckowski said.

Saluting Military Recruits (SMR), a veteran-run non-profit organization, holds a special ceremony near the end of each school year in the Bay Area.  SMR presents each enlistee with a special Certificate of Appreciation in a procession ceremony. During the ceremony speakers welcome and thank the new enlistees to military service. Veterans, recruiters, civilians and the recruit's families all attend and participate in the ceremony.

Senator Wieckowski represents the 10th Senate District, which includes southern Alameda County and part of Santa Clara County.
