Los Angeles – California State Senator Bob Wieckowski’s Environmental Quality Committee will hold the last of its regional hearings on climate change adaptation this Friday at the Ronald Reagan State Building in Los Angeles.  The hearing, “Southern California Regional Adaptation Efforts to Climate Change Impacts” will feature panelists from UCLA, USC, Los Angeles County, the City of Los Angeles, mosquito and vector control, and local organizations focusing on climate change.  It will be live streamed http://senv.senate.ca.gov/informa

Sacramento – Two bills that are part of State Senator Bob Wieckowski’s (D-Fremont) Economic Equity and Financial Stability Initiative to aid the working poor and protect the due process rights of consumers fighting debt collectors were signed into law today by California Governor Jerry Brown.  The bills, SB 501 and SB 641, were supported by a strong coalition of consumer, advocates, labor organizations, and legal aid clinics across the state, as well as Attorney General Kamala D. Harris and State Treasurer John Chiang.

Sacramento – California Governor Jerry Brown today signed SB 246 by state Senator Bob Wieckowski (D-Fremont) to help California’s communities build resiliency to climate change impacts, including more frequent and intense heat waves, wildfires, floods, and droughts, which threaten the state’s air and water quality, public health, infrastructure, and economy.

Sacramento – California Governor Jerry Brown today signed a bill by Senator Bob Wieckowski (D-Fremont) to avoid lengthy demurrer proceedings and ease the congestion in California’s busy courtrooms.  The bill, SB 383, was supported by the California Defense Counsel, Consumer Attorneys of California and the California Judges Association.

Fremont – State Senator Bob Wieckowski’s (D-Fremont) office is holding satellite office hours for constituents throughout the 10th Senate District to meet and resolve issues involving state agencies.

“These satellite office hours will provide a way for people to meet in person with my staff to discuss problems they may be having with a state agency or any other information they need from the state of California,” Wieckowski said.  “Each week, there will be a satellite office open on a rotating basis in the 10th District.”

Five individuals to be honored for outstanding service

San Jose - State Senator Bob Wieckowski (D-Fremont) will honor five outstanding leaders at his 3rd Annual Latino Heritage Leadership Awards Ceremony this Friday afternoon. 

“These five individuals from health care, journalism, foundations, the private sector and academia continue to make outstanding contributions to all parts of the 10th State Senate District and the Latino communities in Alameda and Santa Clara counties,” Wieckowski said.
