Wieckowski, Low to hold Senior Scam Stopper Seminar at the Rose Garden Library in San Jose

August 18, 2017

San Jose –Sen. Bob Wieckowski and Assemblymember Evan Low will host a Senior Scam Stopper Seminar to educate local residents to protect themselves from a variety of financial, home improvement, insurance, telemarketing, and real estate scams.  Santa Clara County Supervisor Ken Yeager and San Jose Councilmember Dev Davis will speak, along with representatives from law enforcement and state agencies.

“Seniors are particularly targeted by scam artists and unscrupulous companies who are looking to take advantage of unsuspecting consumers,” said Wieckowski, a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee.  “By making them more aware of the tactics these rip-off artists use, we can prevent them from becoming victims themselves.”

Panelists include representatives from the Contractors State Licensing Board, California Department of Insurance, Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office and the San Jose Police Department.

Seniors, their families, and caregivers are invited to attend the free event.  Limited parking is available at the library garage, and additional street parking can be found on Dana Ave. and Naglee Ave.

Senator Wieckowski represents the 10th District, which includes southern Alameda County and parts of Santa Clara County.
