Wieckowski's statement on California transportation package

March 29, 2017

Sacramento – Senator Bob Wieckowski (D-Fremont), a member of the Senate Transportation and Housing Committee, and the chair of the Senate Budget and Fiscal Review Subcommittee 2 on Resources, Environmental Protection, Energy and Transportation, issued the following statement on today’s announcement of a deal between legislators and Governor Brown on a transportation package.

“This package combines the long-term investment needed to fix our crumbling streets, roads and bridges with increased oversight of our transportation dollars.  I have long-supported local and statewide infrastructure projects and I am pleased that legislators and the Governor have reached agreement on a package that will begin eliminating the potholes and safety issues drivers are facing on our roads every day.  This agreement has broad support from local government, businesses and transportation advocates and will put Californians to work repairing our roads, improving our transit systems and ensuring pedestrian and cyclists’ safety on our streets.”

Senator Wieckowski represents the 10th District, which includes southern Alameda County and northeast Santa Clara County.
