Sen. Wieckowski to serve on Judiciary, Transportation and Housing committees in state Senate
Senate Pro Tem de Leon also appoints him to Business, Professions & Economic Development, and Insurance committees.
Sacramento – State Senate Pro Tem Kevin de Leon has appointed Sen. Bob Wieckowski (D-Fremont) to serve on four standing committees, in addition to chairing the Senate Environmental Quality Committee, de Leon announced today.
“I am very pleased with these committee assignments because they fit well with my policy interests on environmental stewardship, economic development, consumer protection, transportation infrastructure, affordable housing and our court system,” Wieckowski said. “They are also good for my district because they match the clean economy expansion experienced in District 10 and position me to play key roles in helping to meet the challenges facing the region.”
De Leon selected Wieckowski to chair the Environmental Quality Committee last month. Today, he announced the rest of the committee assignments and Wieckowski will serve on the following committees: Business, Professions and Economic Development; Insurance; Judiciary; and Transportation and Housing.
“I am looking forward to chairing the Environmental Quality Committee because I believe clear and sensible oversight policies can lead to a cleaner environment and a stronger economy,” Wieckowski said. “As Governor Brown said in his State of the State speech, we must demonstrate that reducing carbon is compatible with an abundant economy.”
Wieckowski represents the 10th Senate District, which includes southern Alameda County and northeast Santa Clara County.
