SB 1069 heads to Governor Brown; It would increase the supply of affordable rental housing throughout California

Sacramento – California homeowners seeking to build an accessory dwelling unit (granny flat) on their property are one step closer to facing fewer barriers and lower fees after the California State Senate approved a bill by Senator Bob Wieckowski (D-Fremont) today.  Senate Bill 1069, the most extensive bill on second units to be passed by the Legislature in decades, now goes to Governor Brown for his consideration.  The Governor signaled his support for the bill in principle during his revise of the state budget in May.

SB 1263 limits the creation of unsustainable small water agencies

Sacramento – Senator Bob Wieckowski’s (D-Fremont) bill to limit the proliferation of small, unsustainable public water agencies that are more likely to violate drinking water safety standards, passed the Senate today and now goes before Governor Jerry Brown for his consideration.  Senate Bill 1263 will improve the long-term delivery of safe drinking water to many disadvantaged communities.

SB 1069 is most extensive accessory units bill in California in decades

Sacramento ­– The California State Assembly today approved State Senator Bob Wieckowski’s (D - Fremont) bill to eliminate excessive fees and restrictions that discourage the building of accessory dwelling units (ADUs), also known as granny flats, in California.  Senate Bill 1069 is the Legislature’s most far-reaching bill on ADUs since 2002. The bill has the support of business, labor, affordable housing advocates, teachers and seniors.  It now heads back to the Senate for a concurrence vote.

SB 680 allows Santa Clara to pursue unique agrihood project

Sacramento – An urgency bill by State Senator Bob Wieckowski (D-Fremont) to modify the terms of a land sale between the state Department of General Services and the Santa Clara Housing Authority, was approved with strong bipartisan support in the Senate today. Senate Bill 680 will allow an innovative affordable housing project to move forward in the city of Santa Clara.  The bill now goes to Governor Brown.

SB 998 will enhance effectiveness of bus-only lanes

Sacramento – The California State Senate approved a bill by Senator Bob Wieckowski (D-Fremont) today that will improve the ability of bus rapid transit services to move riders more quickly.  Senate Bill 998 now goes to Governor Brown for his consideration.

The bill amends the vehicle code to prohibit motorists from stopping, parking, or driving in the lanes.

Sacramento – The California State Assembly today approved a bill by Senator Bob Wieckowski (D-Fremont) to improve the delivery of safe, reliable drinking water in California by limiting the proliferation of small, unsustainable public water agencies.  Senate Bill 1263 now heads back to the Senate for a concurrence vote before going to the Governor.
